Gourmet Tea Blends

Tea can be as layered, expressive, and carefully composed as fragrance.

At Petite Histoire, fruit, flowers, herbs, spices, and grains are selected for the role they play within the blend. Blossoms add aromatic lift. Fruit creates brightness and contrast. Herbs bring clarity, while grains and spices can deepen the body of the tea. Every ingredient is intended to support the leaf rather than overwhelm it.

The result is luxury tea with substance: expressive enough to make an ordinary afternoon feel considered, yet balanced enough to return to every day.

Built From the Leaf

Before added fruit or spice, there is the leaf. We choose teas with enough character to hold the cup alone, shaped by place, season, and processing craft.

Composed Blends

Blends are structured, not decorated. Blossoms, herbs, and spices are used to extend the tea—not mask it—creating depth, balance, and quiet indulgence.

A Cup You’ll Return To

Gourmet tea should not feel too precious to drink. These are teas to keep close, brew often, and let become part of the rhythm of your day.

Luxury Tea Begins With the Leaf

Exceptional gourmet tea starts with the leaf itself: Darjeeling shaped by Himalayan altitude, Sikkim harvested within narrow seasonal windows, Fujian tea refined through careful oxidation. These decisions determine the structure of the cup—how the flavor opens, how it develops, and what remains after each sip.

That is where we begin.

When a tea tastes flat, overly flavored, or indistinct, the problem often begins before the blending does. Once the foundation is right, we compose around it. Blossoms bring lift. Grains add body. Herbs create restraint. Fruit introduces brightness and contrast.

Every ingredient is selected to reveal more of the tea, not disguise it.

The result is a gourmet loose-leaf tea blend with clarity, depth, and a distinct sense of progression—a cup that gives you something to notice, follow, and return to.

Gourmet Tea, Composed for Flavor

A memorable tea blend is more than a collection of pleasant ingredients. It has structure.

Some teas open with bright citrus, fragrant flowers, or fresh herbs. Others begin with warm spices, ripe fruit, toasted grains, vanilla, cacao, or woods. Beneath those first impressions, the tea itself provides depth, body, and a finish that continues after the cup is set down.

Our gourmet tea blends are composed with this progression in mind. Fine loose-leaf tea, botanicals, fruits, flowers, herbs, and spices are brought together so that each ingredient contributes something distinct without overwhelming the whole.

The result is tea with atmosphere and dimension: expressive enough to feel special, yet balanced enough to return to often.

Tea, Tisanes, and Herbal Infusions

Traditional tea is made from the leaves of Camellia sinensis, the plant from which black, green, white, and oolong teas are produced. Their differences come from the variety of the plant, where and how it is grown, and the way the leaves are harvested and processed.

Tea blends combine these leaves with ingredients such as flowers, fruit, herbs, and spices. Jasmine, rose, osmanthus, citrus peel, mint, cardamom, and other botanicals have been used to scent and season tea across cultures for centuries.

Herbal teas do not necessarily contain Camellia sinensis. More precisely called herbal infusions or tisanes, they may be made from flowers, leaves, roots, bark, fruits, spices, grains, or rooibos. Although technically distinct from tea, they belong to the same enduring ritual: drawing flavor and fragrance from plants through water.

What Makes a Tea a Luxury Tea?

Luxury tea begins with the quality of the tea leaves and ingredients, but quality alone is not enough. A truly exceptional blend also requires proportion, clarity, and restraint.

Commercial flavored teas often rely on strong added flavor to disguise flat or undistinguished tea leaves. In a well-made luxury tea blend, flavor should enhance the underlying tea rather than conceal it. The character of the leaf remains present, while flowers, fruit, herbs, spices, and aromatic extracts add complexity and definition.

We use flavor as a finishing element within the composition—not as a substitute for fine quality tea.

A More Considered Tea Ritual

Tea has long occupied a place between necessity and pleasure. It can begin a morning, punctuate an afternoon, accompany conversation, or create a quiet interval within the day.

Our blends are made for those moments. Some are bright and energizing. Some are floral, smoky, spiced, creamy, or softly sweet. Others are designed for slower evenings and caffeine-free rituals.

Whether you are searching for gourmet tea for your own cupboard, a distinctive loose-leaf tea blend, or a luxury tea gift, each blend offers a world of flavor intended to be brewed, noticed, and enjoyed.
